Service Projects
One of our goals as parents is to teach our children the importance of serving others! The C/VR ECPTA provides many opportunities throughout the year to show our children the importance of service through our actions! This year we will be participating in the following service projects!
- Light the Night Walk
A Huge thanks to our 16-member Light the Night walk team and every donor. Altogether, the ECPTA team raised an astounding $530 for the Leukemia/Lymphoma society. You guys ROCK! The team walked alongside the Little Warriors team, a group of five Leukemia/Lymphoma survivors. As little Caroline Blazek noted, “We’ve walked one mile…or maybe fifty.” Either way, the hour-long walk on a gorgeous Saturday night was a great end to the weeks of fundraising.
- Family Gateway Donation Drive (Our C/VR ECPTA Halloween Party)

We had a fun evening at our annual Halloween party, which was held on Wednesday October 26 at the YMCA. Around 40 ECPTA families joined to celebrate an evening out with the family and we collected two huge bins of toiletries to donate to The Family Place.
What a great night! The children looked adorable in their costumes and enjoyed hours of games, crafts, food, a huge bounce house, a balloon artist and two amazing face painters.
The kids played hard and had so much fun giving their Halloween costumes a test run before the official trick-or-treating on Oct. 31st! A huge thanks is due to all who volunteered their time in putting together this event. The decorating and clean-up crews were amazing. We could not have pulled this together without you! Also, a very special thank you goes out to our Boy Scout and Girl Scout volunteers who helped with the games and craft stations and to Grow It Land Designs for providing a won-derful family picture area. Each helped make the night a wonderful experience for our kids.
- Family Gateway Thanksgiving Party
Cheers to our ten ECPTA volunteers who hosted the Family Gateway Thanksgiving party! On November 5th, ECPTA provided a fishing booth with prizes, pin the tail on the turkey, doughnut decorating, and handprint art for around 30 children at the shelter. We also presenter the results of our Halloween Party toiletry drive. The kids and adult volunteers all had a great time. Thnaks to Courtney Segars for organizing such a great community service project.
- Operation Gratitude
December 7th, 2011
Thanks to everyone who supported the ECPTA’s Cookie and Cocoa party for Operation Gratitude! Our hardworking scriveners produced 16 handmade letters to cheer up our troops. (They ate far more than 16 cookies, but they were REALLY hardworking).
- Sign Language Awareness Class
On January 12, 2012, we had our Sign Language Awareness class and pizza party. A huge thank you to all who attended the event, held at the Carrollton Public Library. Mrs. Ashley Fleetwood was funny, fun, and even educational as she taught our group how to sign about numbers, pets, food and manners!
- Scottish Rite Hospital Poster Making/Tour
February 17, 2012
A huge thanks to the fourteen PTA members who attended the Scottish Rite Hospital Tour! The hospital gratefully received the poster board cards crafted by the PTA. Our wonderful tour guide walked our group through the amazing hos-pital, pointing out the gorgeous details that make it so wonderful for the patients.
We learned that 3 floors of the 6 floor hospital are built underground, so as not to intimidate the children. Each floor is themed with murals and decorations, from “under the sea” to “the skies the limit”. Each elevator has a mir-rored ceiling, so patients on gurneys have something to watch as they ride between floors. Most amazing of all, the 9 small children in our group happily and quietly munched on popcorn during the 45 minute walking tour with no problems. It was a great experi-ence for both Scottish Rite and the PTA attendees!
